Co-existence or Parasitism ?
Sometimes Parasitism breeds from coexistence which grows malignant over time. Analogous is the situation when it comes to the case of movie and music. When films were born, it was mute. Slowly like a child learning from his faltering steps it gradually learnt speaking and gained the ingredients to add to it's growth. But silently music seeped through to become the blood of a film. An able back ground score sticks the viewer to the story line and keeps him intrigued throughout the film. But if it does not do justice to what it should enrich then it spoils the whole essence of the film. In our country, music thrives on film industry. It has almost become more of a success code that films can do good only if it has got a set of nice songs. But unlike the contemporaries some are breaking out of the code. Some films are done with good songs but is sickened by a bland story line and ridiculous direction.. What good does the music do to a film if it by the soul is sick. Sometimes music deceives an individual from the nuances of film making but keeps him blindfolded to the internal problems of a film. If the film has no soul, what is the use of the glossy skin. Music has now become the trump card for the business of the film. Shot in beautiful and exotic locations, the songs attracts the viewers by it's melodramatic sequences. While some don't even fit into the sequence of the film, marking itself meaningless. From outside we may feel like they are coexisting, but if we dig more deep we can see the roots of parasitism. Music has to be independent, so do the films. Actually music is thwarting films from what they could possibly become and vice versa. Knowingly or unknowingly viewers are fooled by these kind of madcap policies.
